Tim McLaurin, who grew up on the outskirts of Fayetteville, N.C., began writing while in the Peace Corps in Tunisia, 1982-1983. His first novel was published in 1989. McLaurin died of cancer on 11 July 2002. The collection chiefly contains manuscript drafts of Tim McLaurin's novels (1989), (1989), (1995), (1997), (2004); his long narrative poem, (1997); and his memoirs, (1991) and (2000), including edited typescripts and author's galleys. Also included are manuscripts of unpublished works; short stories and articles published in newspapers and magazines, along with articles and reviews by others; some letters written while McLaurin served in the Peace Corps in Tunisia, 1982-1983; and other correspondence, 1996-2003. The Addition of October 2008 contains drafts of Tim McLaurin's novels and other writings; writings by other authors; correspondence; materials relating to McLaurin's wedding, illness, and death; photographs; videotapes; and other items.
